The Panther swimming and diving teams continued their winning ways with road dual meet wins Saturday afternoon over Union. The men edged the host Dutchmen by a 122-119 score, while the women cruised, 149.5-86.5. The men have won four-straight head-to-head meets and go to 4-4 overall, while the women improved to 6-2.
During the men's competition, the Panthers trailed by six (115-109) entering the final event, the 200 free relay. The Middlebury quartet of rookie Taylor Moore (Greenwich, Conn.), sophomore Noel Antonisse (Silver Spring, Md.), senior Andrew Lee (Plainville, Conn.) and junior Paul Lagasse (Hopkinton, Mass.) touched the wall first with a time of 1:29.37 for 11 points, while Union grabbed four points with a runner-up finish and the Panthers secured the victory.
Individually, rookie Matthew Lantin (Harrison, N.Y.) was a double-winner in the 200 free (1:47.23) and 500 free (4:45.70), while sophomore Michael McGean (Lincoln, Mass.) won the 1000 free (9:59.86). Senior Teddy Kuo (Bayside, N.Y.) raced to the wall first in the 200 fly (2:01.36), as the Panther men utilized depth in tallying points in many other events.
In the day's opening event for the women, the 200 medley relay, the Panther team of rookie Sarah Bartholomae (Dover, Mass.), senior Jamie Hillas (Woodbridge, Conn.), junior Megan Griffin (Sudbury, Mass.) and sophomore Morgan Burke (Summit, N.J.) were victorious with a time of 1:50.92.
Sophomore Jennifer Koide (Morristown, N.J.) was a double-winner during individual events, winning both the 200 individual medley (2:15.82) and 200 breaststroke (2:29.93) competitions. Other event titles came from rookie Kelly Delane (Rye, N.Y.) in the 1000 free (11:05.02) and junior Lily Sawyer (Barrington, R.I.) who was victorious in the 200 fly (2:13.21). Sophomore Elinor Reinhardt (Westfield, N.J.) led the field home in 500 free (5:27.20), Hillas in the 200 free (1:58.95) and Burke with a time of 54.44 during the 100 free.
Capping off the team victory during the last event of the meet, the 200 free relay team of Hillas, Burke, rookie Stephanie Andrews (Pittsford, N.Y.) and senior Courtney Haron (North Kingstown, R.I.) hit the wall first in 1:40.27.
