McKee is in his seventh year at Middlebury in 2019-20 after being named the College’s first Assistant Director of Athletic Communications in December of 2013. As the Assistant Director of Athletic Communications, McKee assists in the handling of all publicity for the school’s 31 varsity NCAA athletic teams. He also aids in the management of all media requests, while also maintaining the day-to-day operations of the office as well as the athletic department’s PrestoSports website which launched in the summer of 2014.
McKee came to Middlebury as no stranger to both the profession or Division III, serving as the assistant sports information director at numerous institutions during his career, including a two-year stint at Case Western Reserve University. He has also spent time and grown professionally at Kenyon College, The College of Wooster and Christopher Newport University (Va.). At each of the four institutions that sponsor between 19 and 24 varsity athletic teams, McKee served as the primary contact for numerous sports and helped manage all facets of athletic communications.
McKee has been a media relations staff member for over 80 NCAA Championship events spanning all three NCAA divisions over his career, including numerous NCAA Tournament and Regional contests and matches since joining the Middlebury staff in 2013.
While at Case Western Reserve, he served as the main contact for the 2011 Division III men’s and women’s soccer first and second rounds as well as the 2012 Division III wrestling regional championship. Additionally, McKee was the media relations contact for the 2012 University Athletic Association men’s and women’s Swimming & Diving Championships as well as the 2013 UAA men’s and women’s Indoor Track & Field Championship meet.
A native of Ashland, Ohio, and a 2003 graduate of Ohio Northern University, McKee’s career in athletic communications began as a student assistant at ONU under longtime sports information director Tim Glon, where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in sport management along with a full minor in communication arts with a concentration in public relations.
He is an active member of both the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and the Eastern College Athletic Conference Sports Information Directors Association (ECAC-SIDA). He currently serves as the ECAC-SIDA Treasurer, as well as a member of the organization's Rookie Committee and was a member of the Local Organizing Committee for the 2018 ECAC-SIDA Convention in Burlington and has served on numerous panels at the annual workshop.
He also serves on both CoSIDA’s Goodwill and Wellness Committee and the Continuing Education Committee. McKee has also been a member of CoSIDA’s publications committee as a contest coordinator.
