  • Middlebury Finishes Fourth in Learfield IMG College Directors’ Cup Standings
    June 12, 2019
    Middlebury finished fourth among 340 colleges and universities that registered points in the 2018-19 Learfield IMG College Directors’ Cup standings. The Panthers earned their 16th-straight top-10 finish, winning the cup in 2011-12. Middlebury has also finished in the top five 18 times since 1995-96.
  • Lang, Margiotta, Smith Inducted Into Phi Beta Kappa

    Three Middlebury College senior student-athletes were elected to Phi Beta Kappa, the oldest honor society for the liberal arts and sciences in the United States. Women's track & field runner Lucy Lang (Lexington, Mass.), softball pitcher Irene Margiotta (Mendham, N.J.) and swimmer Andrew Smith (Middletown, N.J.) were honored for their hard work in the classroom. The event was the 151st Phi Beta Kappa induction in Middlebury's history and the trio joins three Panthers inducted in the fall.
  • NESCAC Spring All-Academic Team Members Recognized

    The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) has announced its 2019 Spring All-Academic Selections. To be honored, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore academic standing with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50. A transfer student must have completed one year of study at the institution. The following are Middlebury's 132 representatives, the second-highest total in the conference.
  • NESCAC Spring All-Sportsmanship Team Announced

    The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) announced its Spring All-Sportsmanship Team for each spring sport sponsored by the conference. The All-Sportsmanship Team is composed of one student-athlete from each institution for each sport and is selected by the players and coaches from their respective team for their positive contributions to sportsmanship. The student-athlete selected must be in good academic standing and a member of the team at the conclusion of the season in order to be eligible for selection.

  • Middlebury Announces Class of 2019 For Its Hall of Fame

    Middlebury College today announced its 2018 class of inductees for the Middlebury Athletics Hall of Fame. The fifth class to be inaugurated, this year’s group includes graduates representing four different decades, from as early as 1968 to as recent as 2003. The inductees combined to play 10 different sports at the College. One honoree is being recognized for his service as a longtime coach, while two have represented the United States at the Olympics.

    The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) announced its Winter All-Sportsmanship Team for each winter sport sponsored by the conference. The All-Sportsmanship Team is composed of one student-athlete from each institution for each sport and is selected by the players and coaches from their respective team for their positive contributions to sportsmanship. The student-athlete selected must be in good academic standing and a member of the team at the conclusion of the season in order to be eligible for selection.

  • Beaney to Be Inducted Into Vermont Sports Hall of Fame

    Long-time Middlebury College coach Bill Beaney will be inducted into the Vermont Sports Hall of Fame as a member of the class of 2019. The event will take place at Trader Duke’s Hotel in South Burlington on Saturday, April 13. Ticket information will be available soon on www.vermontsportshall.com.

    The Middlebury College Department of Athletics would like to wish you and yours a very Happy Holiday season! The Panthers are idle until December 29 when the men's hockey and women's basketball teams return to action. The women’s basketball squad will entertain Keene State at 2:00 p.m., followed by a December 31 road contest at Mount Saint Mary’s (N.Y.) at 1:00 p.m. The men’s hockey team hosts its annual Holiday Classic in Kenyon Arena on December 29-30, as the Panthers welcome Johnson & Wales (R.I.), Hobart and the University of New England. Johnson & Wales and Middlebury play at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Hobart and UNE face off at 4:00 p.m. The consolation and championship game on Sunday will start at 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., respectively. The Panther men’s basketball team will travel to Swarthmore on Sunday, December 30 for a 3:00 p.m. contest. Two days later, Middlebury hosts SUNY-Canton on New Year’s Day at 3:00 p.m.

  • Eldredge, Cutts Promoted in Sports Medicine Department

    Middlebury College has announced two promotions within the Sports Medicine Department. Rachel Eldredge has been elevated to the Assistant Director of Sports Medicine, while Matt Cutts has earned the title of Associate Athletic Trainer.
