    Middlebury College volleyball player Sarah Staver (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) has been named College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) District I First-Team Academic All-District selections by the organization. The senior helped lead Middlebury to a 17-6 record in 2018.

    Two members of the Middlebury College volleyball team were honored when the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) handed out postseason honors. Seniors Isabel Sessions (Chicago, Ill.) and Sarah Staver (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) were both first-team All-Northeast Region selections. The duo helped guide the Panthers to a 17-6 record in 2018.

  • Panthers Fall to Tufts in NESCAC Quarterfinals

    The fourth-seeded Middlebury volleyball team lost in the NESCAC Quarterfinals by a 3-0 score (27-25, 25-20, 25-17) to fifth-seeded Tufts on Friday. The Panthers drop to 17-6 overall, while the Jumbos improve to 16-9 with the victory.
  • Staver Selected NESCAC Player of the Week

    Middlebury College volleyball player Sarah Staver (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) has been selected as the NESCAC Player of the Week. The senior middle hitter averaged 3.36 kills per set with a .418 hitting percentage in a 3-0 week for the Panthers. She also earned 10 digs, nine total blocks and five services aces in the three victories. Staver hit .472 with a career-high 17 kills in the regular-season finale versus Williams.
  • Volleyball Begins Quest for NESCAC Title

    Looking for its second NESCAC Volleyball Tournament title in the last three years and sixth overall, fourth-seeded Middlebury begins its quest when it squares off with fifth-seeded Tufts on Friday evening at 8:00 p.m. in a quarterfinal match. The two teams played on October 12 in Middlebury, as the Panthers earned a four-set victory (25-15, 25-16, 20-25, 25-20). Semifinal matches will be played on Saturday, November 3 followed by the championship match on Sunday, November 4 hosted by Bowdoin in Morrell Gymnasium.
  • Panthers End Regular Season With Four-Set Win Over Williams

    The Middlebury volleyball team capped its regular season Saturday with a 3-1 home victory (19-25, 25-21, 25-23, 25-19) over Williams in Pepin Gymnasium. The Panthers (17-5, 7-3) earned the No. 4 seed in next weekend's NESCAC Tournament and open with fifth-seeded Tufts on Friday night at 8:00 p.m. Top-seeded Bowdoin will host championship weekend. 
  • Middlebury Defeats Hamilton In Four Sets

    The Middlebury volleyball increased its winning streak to four matches with a four-set home victory (25-23, 25-14, 16-25, 25-20) over Hamilton in Pepin Gymnasium. The Panthers (16-5, 6-3) conclude their regular-season schedule Saturday with a 2:00 p.m. conference home match with Williams, while the Continentals (7-13, 1-9) host Utica at 3:00 p.m.
  • Panthers Sweep Past Colby-Sawyer
    October 24, 2018
    The Middlebury volleyball team swept host Colby-Sawyer (25-16, 25-16, 25-16) in straight sets on Wednesday evening in the Coffin Field House. The Panthers (15-5) return to action on Friday with a home NESCAC contest against Hamilton at 7:00 p.m., while the Chargers (17-10) host Plymouth State tomorrow night.
  • Sessions Selected NESCAC Player of the Week

    Middlebury College volleyball player Isabel Sessions (Chicago, Ill.) has been selected as the NESCAC Player of the Week. The senior outside hitter averaged 3.75 kills and 3.08 digs per last week for the Panthers. She posted double-doubles against Babson (11 kills, 11 digs) and Springfield (19 kills, 20 digs), while adding 15 kills with six digs in the victory over 21st-ranked MIT. Sessions finished the week with a .283 hitting percentage.
  • Volleyball Concludes New England Challenge With Two Wins

    The Middlebury volleyball team won a pair of matches on Saturday during the final day of the New England Challenge. In the day’s first contest, the Panthers (14-5) knocked off 21st-ranked MIT by a 3-1 score (25-19, 19-25, 25-15, 25-19), before outlasting Springfield in five sets during the afternoon (21-25, 25-15, 25-16, 20-25, 15-5). The Panthers return to action on Wednesday with a 7:00 p.m. match at Colby-Sawyer.
  • Panthers Fall to Babson on Day One of New England Challenge

    The Middlebury volleyball team opened play during the two-day New England Challenge with a 3-0 setback Friday evening at Babson (18-5) by scores of 25-22, 25-15, 25-16. The Panthers (12-5) return to action Saturday, playing an 11:00 a.m. match at 21st-ranked MIT followed by a 3:30 p.m. contest with Springfield.
  • Bowdoin Rallies to Defeat Middlebury; Sessions Eclipses 1,000 Kills

    The Middlebury volleyball team grabbed a 2-1 lead, but visiting Bowdoin rallied to win the last two sets Saturday for a 3-2 win (25-22, 16-25, 23-25, 25-12, 15-9) over the Panthers in Pepin Gymnasium. In the setback, Middlebury’s Isabel Sessions became just the sixth player in program history to eclipse 1,000 career kills. The Panthers (12-4, 5-3) return to play Friday when they travel to Babson for a 7:00 p.m. match, while the Polar Bears (18-1, 8-0) host Bates on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
  • Panthers Defeat Tufts in Four Sets

    The Middlebury volleyball team bested Tufts (11-8, 5-3) by a 3-1 score (25-15, 25-16, 20-25, 25-20) on Friday evening in Pepin Gymnasium. The Panthers (12-3, 5-2) return to action on Saturday when they host Bowdoin at 2:00 p.m., while the Jumbos entertain Springfield next Friday at 7:00 p.m.
  • Middlebury Blanks Skidmore in Midweek Road Contest

    Middlebury got back to its winning ways on Tuesday with a 3-0 victory at Skidmore (25-22, 25-11, 25-22) in the Williamson Sports Center. The Panthers (11-3) return to action on Friday when they host Tufts in a NESCAC matchup at 7:00 p.m.
  • Panther Win Streak Stops at Seven With Loss at Wesleyan

    Middlebury had its seven-match winning streak snapped in a four-set loss at Wesleyan (25-22, 25-19, 25-27, 25-18) on Saturday in Silloway Gymnasium. The Panthers (10-3, 4-2) return to the court at Skidmore beginning at 7:00 p.m., while the Cardinals (11-2, 6-0) host Colby on Friday at 8:00 p.m.
  • Sessions Career Night Leads Panthers Past Conn. College

    Behind a career-high tying 23 kills from Isabel Sessions, Middlebury earned its seventh-straight overall win by a 3-1 tally (25-22, 23-25, 25-21, 26-24) at Connecticut College on Friday. The Panthers (10-2, 4-1) return to the court Saturday when travel to Wesleyan for a 2:00 p.m. league contest.

    Beth Neal ’20 is a three-year player, and current captain, for the Middlebury volleyball team. A neuroscience major with minors in art history and global health from Franklin, Massachusetts, Neal is also a member of the indoor and outdoor track & field teams.

    Middlebury utilized big runs in all three sets on Saturday, cruising past host Colby (25-11, 25-19, 25-16) in NESCAC play. The Panthers (9-2, 3-1), winners of six-straight matches and 18-consecutive sets, return to the court Friday when travel to Connecticut College for an 8:00 p.m. league contest.

    Middlebury claimed a tight opening set and cruised sets two and three, easing past host Bates (25-20, 25-14, 25-8) on Friday in NESCAC action. The Panthers (8-2, 2-1), winners of five-straight matches, return to the court Saturday when travel to Colby for a 2:00 p.m. contest, while the Bobcats (5-4, 1-3) host the University of New England on Tuesday.

    Middlebury eased past visiting Saint Michael’s in straight sets by scores of 25-11, 25-13 and 25-11 on Tuesday evening in Pepin Gymnasium. The Panthers (7-2), winners of four-straight matches, return to action Friday for an 8:00 p.m. NESCAC match at Bates, while Saint Michael’s (0-6) hosts Southern New Hampshire on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.

    The Middlebury volleyball team eased past host Ramapo (25-16, 25-13, 25-8) on Saturday in the Bradley Center as a part of the Ramapo Tri-Match. The Panthers (6-2) return to the court Tuesday when they host St. Michael’s at 7:00 p.m.

    Middlebury swept past New York University (25-19, 30-28, 25-22) on Friday evening in Ramapo’s Bradley Center as a part of the Ramapo Tri-Match. The Panthers (5-2) return to the court Saturday when they play the host Roadrunners at 11:00 a.m.
  • Middlebury Downs Trinity In NESCAC Contest

    The Middlebury volleyball team dropped a tight opening set, but rebounded to claim the final three stanzas during a four-set victory (26-28, 25-12, 25-13, 25-17) over Trinity Saturday in Pepin Gymnasium. The Panthers (4-2, 1-1) return to the court Friday when they play NYU at 5:00 p.m. as part of the Ramapo Tri-Match, while the Bantams (5-2, 0-1) travel to Amherst that same day at 7:00 p.m.
  • Amherst Squeezes by Middlebury in Five-Set Thriller

    The Middlebury volleyball team opened NESCAC play with a tight five-set loss (25-23, 21-25, 25-22, 22-25, 15-10) to Amherst on Friday evening in Pepin Gymnasium. The Panthers (3-2, 0-1) return to the court Saturday when they host Trinity at 2:00 p.m., while the Mammoths (4-0, 1-0) host Newberry and Sage on Saturday.

    Middlebury claimed the back-and-forth opening set and cruised sets two and three, easing past host Plymouth State by scores of 25-21, 25-14 and 25-9 on Tuesday evening in the John C. Foley Gymnasium. The Panthers (3-1) return to the court Friday when they open NESCAC action with a 7:00 p.m. home match against Amherst.

    The Middlebury women's volleyball team concluded its opening weekend splitting two matches on Saturday at the Wheaton Invitational. The Panthers eased past Farmingdale State in the day's first match by a 3-0 tally (25-10, 25-13, 25-6), while the host Lyons earned a four-set triumph over Middlebury in the day's second contest (17-25, 25-20, 25-20, 25-18). The Panthers return to action on Tuesday with a 6:00 p.m. match at Plymouth State.
  • Panther Volleyball Edges Worcester State in Season Opener

    The Middlebury women's volleyball team had a solid opening night to the 2018 season, as the Panthers defeated Worcester State on Friday at the Wheaton Invitational. The Panthers were victorious by scores of 25-20, 25-20 and 25-19. Middlebury (1-0) is right back on the court tomorrow, facing Farmingdale State at 11:00 a.m. followed by a match against the host Lyons at approximately 1:00 p.m.
