  • Raffel Named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

    Middlebury College volleyball player Becca Raffel (Palo Alto, Calif.) has been named a College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) District I First-Team Academic All-District selection. The senior outside hitter helped the Panthers to a 16-9 record this season.
  • Raffel, Sessions Named AVCA All-Region

    Two members of the Middlebury College volleyball team were honored when the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) handed out postseason honors. Senior Becca Raffel (Palo Alto, Calif.) was a first-team All-Northeast Region selection for the third-consecutive year, while junior Isabel Sessions (Chicago, Ill.) was an honorable mention selection. The duo helped guide the Panthers to a 16-9 record in 2017.

    Two Middlebury College volleyball players were honored when the league announced its All-NESCAC recipients. Senior Becca Raffel (Palo Alto, Calif.) was named to the conference’s first team for the third-straight season, while junior Isabel Sessions (Chicago, Ill.) picked up her second-consecutive spot on the second team. The duo helped guide the Panthers to a 16-9 record in 2017.
  • Middlebury Falls to Bowdoin in NESCAC Quarters

    The sixth-seeded Middlebury volleyball team saw its season come to an end with a 3-2 (22-25, 18-25, 25-17, 27-25, 15-10) loss to third-seeded Bowdoin in a NESCAC quarterfinal contest on Friday evening. The Panthers claimed the first two sets inside Tufts’ Cousens Gymnasium before the Polar Bears (15-9) earned the final three. Middlebury concludes its season with a 16-9 mark.
  • Volleyball Begins Quest for Second-Straight NESCAC Title

    Looking for its second-straight NESCAC Volleyball Tournament title and fourth in eight years, sixth-seeded Middlebury begins its quest when it squares off with third-seeded Bowdoin on Friday evening at 8:00 p.m. in a quarterfinal match. The two teams played on October 14 in Maine, as the Polar Bears earned a three-set victory (25-21, 25-17, 25-22). Semifinal matches will be played on Saturday, November 4 followed by the championship match on Sunday, November 5 hosted by Tufts in Cousens Gymnasium.
  • Panthers Fall to Williams in Regular-Season Finale

    The Middlebury volleyball team capped the regular season Saturday with a 3-2 setback (25-21, 11-25, 25-21, 16-25, 15-10) setback at Williams. The Panthers (16-8, 5-5) earned the sixth seed in next weekend’s NESCAC Tournament and open with third-seeded Bowdoin on Friday night at 8:00 p.m. Top-seeded Tufts will host championship weekend in its entirety.  
  • Middlebury Drops Five-Set League Match at Hamilton

    The Middlebury volleyball team fell to host Hamilton in five sets on Friday evening during NESCAC play in Margaret Bundy Scott Field House (25-20, 22-25, 21-25, 25-12, 15-10). The Panthers (16-7, 5-4) conclude their regular-season schedule Saturday with a 2:00 p.m. conference match at Williams.
  • Volleyball Concludes New England Challenge With Split
    October 21, 2017
    The Middlebury volleyball team split a pair of matches on Saturday during the final day of the New England Challenge hosted by Williams. In the day's first contest, the Panthers (16-6) edged Springfield in four sets (20-25, 27-25, 25-19, 25-21) and were bested in the afternoon by 15th-ranked MIT in four sets (25-15, 25-19, 15-25, 25-18). The Panthers conclude their NESCAC regular-season schedule next weekend when play at Hamilton on Friday at 8:00 p.m., followed by a 2:00 p.m. Saturday match against Williams.
  • Panthers Defeat Babson on Day One of New England Challenge

    The Middlebury volleyball team opened play during the two-day New England Challenge with a 3-1 victory Friday evening over Babson (17-5) by scores of 25-20, 25-16, 24-26, 26-24 in Williams’ Chandler Gymnasium. The Panthers (15-5) return to action Saturday, playing an 11:00 a.m. match against Springfield followed by a 3:30 p.m. contest with 15th-ranked MIT.
  • Panthers Split Pair of Matches in Maine
    October 14, 2017
    The Middlebury women's volleyball team split a pair of matches on Saturday in Maine. The Panthers fell to host Bowdoin in NESCAC action by a 3-0 tally (25-21, 25-17, 25-22), but Middlebury rebounded for a three-set victory over Maine-Presque Isle in the day's second match (25-6, 25-15, 25-18). The Panthers return to the court Friday when they take on Babson in the opening day of the New England Challenge hosted by Williams.
  • Middlebury Falls to Tufts in NESCAC Play
    October 13, 2017
    The Middlebury volleyball team split the first two sets with Tufts, but the host Jumbos grabbed the final two on Friday evening for a 3-1 victory (25-19, 15-25, 25-21, 25-23) in Cousens Gymnasium. The Panthers (13-4, 5-2) return to the court tomorrow for a pair of matches at Bowdoin when they take on the Polar Bears at 1:00 followed by Maine-Presque Isle at 3:30 p.m., while Tufts (14-4, 8-0) plays two contests at Endicott on the same day.
  • Middlebury Ends Home Slate With Victory Over Skidmore
    October 11, 2017
    The Middlebury volleyball team posted a 3-0 victory over Skidmore by scores of 25-20, 25-17 and 25-18 during its regular-season home finale on Wednesday evening in Pepin Gymnasium. The Panthers (13-3) return to the court on Friday evening with a 7:00 p.m. NESCAC match at Tufts, while the Thoroughbreds (13-8) host Plattsburgh State next Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
  • Panther Win Streak Ends in Five-Set Thriller Versus Wesleyan

    Middlebury had its 10-match winning streak snapped in an exciting five-set thriller against Wesleyan (19-25, 11-25, 25-19, 25-19, 16-14) on Saturday in Pepin Gymnasium. The Panthers (12-3, 5-1) return to the court Wednesday when they conclude the home portion of their regular-season schedule with a match against Skidmore at 7:00 p.m., while the Cardinals (15-1, 6-0) travel to Bates on Friday at 8:00 p.m.
  • Volleyball Runs Win Streak to 10 With Sweep of Conn. College
    October 06, 2017
    Middlebury cruised to its 10th-consecutive overall win on Friday evening, a 25-13, 25-13, 25-10 NESCAC victory over Connecticut College in Pepin Gymnasium. The Panthers (12-2, 5-0) return to the court Saturday when they host Wesleyan at 2:00 p.m., while the Camels (9-6, 1-5) entertain Mitchell on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
  • Volleyball Cruises Past Colby in NESCAC Play

    Middlebury continued its hot ending to the month of September with its ninth-straight win, a 25-13, 25-13, 25-13 NESCAC victory Saturday over Colby in Pepin Gymnasium. The Panthers (11-2, 4-0) return to the court Friday when they host Connecticut College at 8:00 p.m., while the Mules (2-9, 0-4) entertain Husson on Wednesday.
  • Panthers Edge Bates in NESCAC Play; Raffel Eclipses 1,000 Kills

    The Middlebury volleyball team ran its winning streak to eight with a tight four-set NESCAC victory (25-23, 25-22, 21-25, 25-22) over Bates on Friday evening in Pepin Gymnasium. In the win, Becca Raffel became just the fifth player in the program’s history to eclipse 1,000 career kills with her fourth in the first set. The Panthers (10-2, 3-0) return to the court Saturday when they host Colby at 2:00 p.m., while the Bobcats (5-6, 1-3) play Simmons and Plymouth State on the same day.

  • Panthers Ease Past Colby-Sawyer in Home-Opening Match

    The Middlebury volleyball team opened the home portion of its 2017 schedule with a three-set home sweep (25-9, 25-14, 25-12) of Colby-Sawyer on Wednesday evening in Pepin Gymnasium. The Panthers (9-2), winners of seven-straight matches, return to the court Friday when they jump back into NESCAC play with a 7:00 p.m. home conference tilt against Bates, while Colby-Sawyer (4-12) plays Castleton and Green Mountain on Saturday.
  • Raffel Named NESCAC Player of the Week

    Middlebury College women's volleyball player Becca Raffel (Palo Alto, Calif.) has been named the NESCAC Player of the Week. The senior led the Panthers to a 4-0 week by averaging 3.85 kills and 2.92 digs per set. She finished the week with a .331 hitting percentage, earning four service aces and a pair of blocks. Raffel currently leads the NESCAC in kills (145), while also averaging 2.84 digs and .32 service aces per match.
  • Middlebury Earns Pair of Wins to Conclude Roadrunner Invite

    The Middlebury volleyball team picked up a pair of wins on Saturday during the final day of the Roadrunner Invitational hosted by Ramapo. In Saturday’s first contest, the Panthers (8-2), who increased their winning streak to six, defeated NYU in four sets (25-11, 25-20, 20-25, 25-20) and eased in the afternoon past the host Roadrunners in straight sets (25-22, 25-14, 25-19). The Panthers open the home portion of their schedule on Wednesday when play host Colby-Sawyer at 7:00 p.m.
  • Volleyball Starts Roadrunner Invite With Four-Set Win

    Middlebury opened the Roadrunner Invitational on Friday evening with a 3-1 victory (25-11, 25-18, 23-25, 25-20) over Farmingdale State (5-3) in a two-day event hosted by Ramapo. Winners of four straight, the Panthers (6-2) return to the court on Saturday with an 11:00 a.m. match against NYU followed by a 1:00 p.m. contest against the hosts.
  • Panther Volleyball Eases Past St. Michael’s

    Middlebury ran its winning streak to three with a straight-set victory (27-25, 25-11, 25-10) at in-state foe St. Michael's on Tuesday evening in the Ross Sports Center. The Panthers (5-2) return to the court Friday when they take on Farmingdale State at 5:00 p.m. on day one of Ramapo’s Roadrunner Invitational.
  • Middlebury Concludes NESCAC Road Trip With Win at Trinity

    Middlebury claimed the final two sets on Saturday, earning a 3-1 road triumph over Trinity (3-3, 0-1) in Oosting Gymnasium. The Panthers (4-2, 2-0) return to action Tuesday with a non-conference match at St. Michael’s beginning at 7:00 p.m.
  • Panthers Open NESCAC Action With Win Over Amherst

    The Middlebury volleyball team opened NESCAC play with a five-set come-from-behind road win (22-25, 25-22, 23-25, 25-22, 16-14) over NESCAC foe Amherst on Friday evening in Lefrak Gymnasium. The Panthers (3-2, 1-0) return to the court Saturday when they travel to Trinity for a 2:00 p.m. match.
  • Middlebury Falls Twice at Union Invitational

    The Middlebury women’s volleyball team dropped its final two matches at the Union Invitational on Saturday. The Panthers fell to Stevens in the day’s first match by a 3-1 tally (24-26, 25-15, 26-24, 25-21), while The College at Brockport earned a four-set triumph over Middlebury in the day’s second match (25-20, 25-23, 23-25, 25-17). The Panthers begin NESCAC play next weekend, traveling to Amherst on Friday followed by a match at Trinity a day later.
  • Panthers Net Two Victories in Season-Opening Invite

    The Middlebury women's volleyball team had a solid opening night to the 2017 season, as the Panthers netted a pair of wins Friday at the Union Invitational. Middlebury blanked SUNY Oneonta 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-12) in its initial match of the tournament, and capped the evening with a 3-2 triumph (25-19, 25-22, 23-25, 20-25 15-10) over the host Dutchwomen. The Panthers (2-0) are right back on the court tomorrow, facing Stevens at 1:00 p.m. followed by a match against The College at Brockport at approximately 3:00 p.m.
