The Middlebury women's volleyball team got back on track with a 3-0 (17, 22, 11) road win at Plymouth State on Wednesday night. The Panthers improve to 14-5 and will take part in the Hall of Fame Classic hosted by Smith and Mt. Holyoke this weekend.
The score was tight in the first set until Middlebury pulled away to a 25-17 victory to take a 1-0 lead. PSU hung around in the second set and came from behind to tie the set at 19-19. The teams traded points before Middlebury pulled out a 25-22 decision to go up, 2-0.
The third set was close early on as PSU held a 9-8 lead, looking to get back into the match. But Middlebury ran off seven straight points and 11 of the next 12 to open up a 19-10 lead. PSU couldn’t recover and Middlebury finished off a 25-11 victory.
Megan Jarchow and Amy Hart smashed 11 kills apiece to pace the Panthers. Jarchow recorded a hitting percentage of .450 while Hart hit at a .391 clip to lead the visitors. Setter Hannah Blackburn helped spur the offense, recording 25 assists, while Olivia Kolodka contributed a match-high three service aces. Lizzy Reed led the Middlebury defense with a match-high 12 digs.
