  • Panther Women Conclude NCAA Meet With Two School Records

    Middlebury ended the 2017 NCAA Division III Women's Swimming & Diving Championships with two school records on Saturday. The four-day event took place at the Conroe ISD Natatorium in Shenandoah, Texas and was hosted by the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference and the City of Shenandoah. As a team, the Middlebury women scored 60 team points to finish 18th out of 51 teams that tallied points over the course of the championship meet.
  • Gomez, 800 Free Relay Efforts Highlight Day Three of NCAA Meet

    The Middlebury women's 800-yard freestyle relay finished 13th and Maya Gomez swam to 12th place in the 100-yard breaststroke for Honorable Mention All-American honors during day three of the 2017 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships. The four-day event is taking place at the Conroe ISD Natatorium in Shenandoah, Texas and is being hosted by the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference and the City of Shenandoah.

  • NESCAC Winter All-Academic Team Members Honored

    The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) has announced its 2016-17 Winter All-Academic Selections. To be honored, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore academic standing and be a varsity letter winner with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.40. A transfer student must have completed one year of study at the institution. The following are Middlebury's 128 representatives, the highest among the 11 conference institutions.
  • NESCAC Winter All-Sportsmanship Teams Announced

    The New England Small College Athletic Conference announced its Winter All-Sportsmanship Team for each winter sport sponsored by the conference. The All-Sportsmanship Team is composed of one student-athlete from each institution for each sport and is selected by the players and coaches from their respective team for their positive contributions to sportsmanship. The student-athlete selected must be in good academic standing and a member of the team at the conclusion of the season in order to be eligible for selection.
  • Panthers Headed to Texas for NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships

    Nine members of the Middlebury College men’s and women's swimming and diving teams will compete in the 2017 NCAA Championships from March 15-18. The event is taking place at the CISD Natatorium in Shenandoah, Texas, with the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference and the City of Shenandoah serving as the hosts.
  • Five Panther Women’s Swimmers Earn All-NESCAC Honors

    Five members of the Middlebury College women’s swimming & diving team have been awarded All-NESCAC laurels. Senior Morgan Burke (Summit. N.J.), junior Isabel Wyer (Deephaven, Minn.) along with rookies Maya Gomez (Madison, Wis.), Celia Ripple (Wauwatosa, Wis.) and Frances VanderMeer (Elmira, N.Y.) each picked up all-conference accolades, given to the top-three finishers in each event during the 2017 NESCAC Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships hosted by Bowdoin in the Greason Pool.
  • O’Leary Posts School Record, Women Fourth at NESCAC Championship

    Middlebury finished in fourth place overall at the 2017 NESCAC Women's Swimming & Diving Championship, hosted by Bowdoin in the Greason Pool. Williams captured its fourth-consecutive title, amassing 1,856 points during the three-day meet. Amherst finished in second place with 1,367 points, followed by Connecticut College (1.268.5), Middlebury (1,174) and Bates (1,159.5).
  • Wyer’s 200 Free Win Highlights Day Two of NESCAC Meet

    Behind a winning performance from Isabel Wyer during Saturday evening's 200 free, Middlebury remained in fifth place following the second day of the 2017 NESCAC Women's Swimming & Diving Championship in Bowdoin’s Greason Pool. Williams increased its lead in the team standings on day two with a two-day total of 1,288 points, while Amherst sits in second place with 1,007.5 points. Connecticut College (950.5), Bates (842.5) and Middlebury (839) round out the top-five spots.
  • Two School Records Fall, Gomez Wins on Day One of NESCAC Championship

    Aided by two school-record performances and a victory by Maya Gomez during the opening day of the 2017 NESCAC Women's Swimming & Diving Championship on Friday, Middlebury sits in fifth place among 11 teams competing at the event hosted Bowdoin in the Greason Pool. Williams leads the way with 625.5 points, while Amherst (547.5), Connecticut College (461.5), Bates (460) and the Panthers (448) round out the top five.
  • Panther Women’s Swimming & Diving Eyes NESCAC Title

    Middlebury will look to challenge for a conference title when the 2017 NESCAC Women's Swimming and Diving Championships begin on Friday, February 10, with preliminary heats in the morning followed by championship races in the evening. This year’s three-day championship will take place at Greason Pool on the campus of Bowdoin College.
  • Panther Swimming & Diving Hosts Annual Middlebury Invitational

    The Middlebury swimming and diving teams hosted the two-day Middlebury Invitational on Friday and Saturday inside the natatorium. The event featured no team scores as Williams, Springfield, Tufts and the University of Vermont took part in the meet, along with the Panthers.
  • Swimming & Diving Ends Dual Meet Schedule Against Williams
    January 21, 2017
    The Panther swimming and diving teams completed the dual meet portion of their schedules Saturday afternoon with a pair of tough tests against Williams. The fourth-ranked Eph women defeated host Middlebury by a 183-111 score, while the seventh-ranked Williams’ men defeated the Panthers, 213-80. Middlebury returns to action Friday and Saturday when it hosts the annual Middlebury Invitational. Action will begin on Friday at 5:30 p.m. while Saturday’s events are scheduled to start at 10:00 a.m.
  • Panther Women Cruise Past Union, Men Edged in Dual Meet

    The Middlebury swimming and diving teams continued their push toward the championship season with a road dual meet on Saturday afternoon at Union. The Panther women eased past the host Dutchwomen by a 150-91 score, while the men were edged by the Dutchmen, 128-113. Middlebury returns to action next Saturday when it hosts Williams at 1:00 p.m.
  • Panthers Conclude Home Weekend With Meet Against Bates

    The Panther swimming and diving teams wrapped up their first weekend of the second semester with a home meet against Bates. The women defeated the visiting Bobcats by a 160-140 score, while the men were defeated 161.5-126.5. Middlebury returns to action Saturday when it travels to Union for a meet starting at 2:00 p.m.
  • Swimming & Diving Teams Begin Second Semesters With Wins Over Colby
    January 07, 2017
    The Panther swimming and diving teams opened their second semesters with convincing home dual meet wins Saturday afternoon against Colby. The women were victorious by a 232.5-66.5 score, while the men cruised to a 179-119 victory. Middlebury returns to action Sunday with a home matchup against Bates scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m.
  • Panther Swimming & Diving Eases Past Springfield
    December 10, 2016
    The Panther swimming and diving teams capped off the first semester by traveling to a dual meet on Saturday at Springfield. The men cruised by a 150-81 score for their first win of the season, while the women edged the Pride, 132-111. The Panthers take a break for the holidays before returning to action on Saturday, January 7, when they host Colby for a dual meet starting at 1:00 p.m.
  • Panthers Host NESCAC Foe Amherst in Home Meet
    December 03, 2016
    The Panther swimming and diving teams returned to action against Amherst on Saturday in the Middlebury Natatorium. The women fell by a 179.5-118.5 count to #10 Amherst, while the men were defeated by the 13th-ranked Purple & White 179.5-113.5. Middlebury will complete first-semester competition next Saturday when it travels to Springfield for a dual meet beginning at 1:00 p.m.
  • Middlebury Ends Opening Weekend With Meet at Tufts
    November 20, 2016
    The Middlebury swimming and diving teams ended their respective opening weekends with a dual meet Sunday in Tufts’ Hamilton Pool. The Middlebury women fell to the Jumbos by a narrow 156-144 count, while the men were defeated 185-110. The Panthers return to the pool on Saturday, December 3 when they open the home portion of the schedule with a meet against Amherst.
  • Panther Swim & Dive Teams Open Season at Conn. College

    The Panther swimming and diving teams opened up their respective 2016-17 seasons on the road with a meet at Connecticut College. The Middlebury women fell to the Camels by a 173-121 tally, while the men were defeated, 191-97.

  • Paione Named Assistant Swim Coach

    Middlebury College has announced the hiring of Melissa Paione as the assistant swimming coach. Paione, a 2016 graduate of Bates College, earned a bachelor's degree in Psychology, concentrating in public health and minoring in gender studies.
