Middlebury earns its fourth shutout of the season as the Panthers picked up a 2-0 win over Colby in a NESCAC women's soccer contest on Dragone Field. Middlebury returns to action on Sunday when they host Bowdoin at noon.
Middlebury threatened early with a pair of attempts from close-range, but Colby's Loni Pisani denied the shots. The Panthers broke through at 16:58 with a pair of nice passes to set up the goal. Nora Tomlinson-Weintraub sent a ball in to Jenny Galgano, who quickly fed Lindsay Walker for the one-touch goal.
The Panthers added to the lead just 2:29 later as Walker took a feed from Tomlinson-Weintraub, took two quick steps, and then found the back of the net. The pair of goals would be all Middlebury needed as the defense held tough for the next 70 minutes to preserve the shutout.
Adele Plunkett made three saves in goal to earn the win, while Pisani ended the day with seven stops.
