  • NESCAC Winter All-Academic Team Members Honored
    March 14, 2018
    The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) has announced its 2017-18 Winter All-Academic Selections. To be honored, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore academic standing and be a varsity letter winner with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.40. A transfer student must have completed one year of study at the institution. The following are Middlebury's 147 representatives, the highest among the 11 conference institutions
  • Panthers Finish Eighth at NCAA Championships
    March 10, 2018
    Middlebury concluded the 2018 NCAA Championships in eighth place among 23 scoring teams. Denver won the national title with 604 points, followed by Colorado (563) and Dartmouth (448.5). The Panthers tallied 248 total points over the four-day event, placing third among eastern schools.
  • Nordic Action Underway at NCAA Championships

    The Middlebury nordic ski team opened up NCAA action on Thursday with the women’s 5K and men’s 10K classical races. The championships are being hosted by the University of Colorado Boulder at Mount Werner. Middlebury is in a sixth-place tie after two days of racing with 143 points, while Colorado leads the pack with 276. Alpine racing resumes on Friday with the giant slalom beginning at 8:45 p.m. EST.
  • Ski Teams Headed to NCAA Championships

    Middlebury will send 11 out of a possible 12 athletes for the 2018 NCAA Skiing Championships hosted by the University of Colorado Boulder from March 7-10. Alpine events will take place at Howelsen Hill, while the nordic races will be held at Mount Werner in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
  • Nordic Team Boasts Several All-East Honors; Johnson is Coach of the Year

    Five members of the nordic ski team were recently recognized with All-East honors from the EISA. Senior Cate Brams (Belmont, Mass.) was named to the first team, while classmate Katie Feldman (Ketchum, Idaho) earned second-team honors. On the men’s side, senior Adam Luban (Syracuse, N.Y.), junior Sam Wood (Harpswell, Maine) and first-year racer Peter Wolter (Hailey, Idaho) were all named to the second team. In addition, Wolter was deemed the EISA Rookie of the Year, while head coach Andrew Johnson earned EISA Coach of the Year honors. Long-time Middlebury assistant coach Patty Ross was also recognized with the EISA Service Award.
  • Ski Team Wraps Up Carnival Circuit at Home

    Middlebury finished third overall at the 2018 Middlebury Carnival/EISA Championships held at the Rikert Nordic Center and the Snow Bowl. Caroline Bartlett picked up a win for the Panthers on Saturday, claiming the giant slalom title.
  • Ski Teams in Action at Home Carnival

    Day one is in the books at the 2018 Middlebury Carnival/EISA Championships hosted by the Rikert Nordic Center and the Snow Bowl. Dartmouth leads the event with 483 points, followed by the University of Vermont (467) and Middlebury (384). Action continues on Saturday with the men's 20K and women's 15K freestyle races, as well as the giant slalom.
  • Ski Teams Set to Host Winter Carnival

    Middlebury College will host its 95th annual winter carnival on Friday-Saturday, February 23-24. Nordic events will be contested at the Rikert Nordic Center, while the alpine events will be held at the Middlebury College Snow Bowl. The event also serves as the EISA Championships as well as an NCAA Regional.
  • Wood & Brams Named Nordic Skiers of the Week

    Middlebury College nordic skiers Sam Wood (Harpswell, Maine) and Cate Brams (Belmont, Mass.) have been named the EISA Men’s and Women’s Nordic Skiers of the Week. At last weekend’s Williams Carnival, Wood picked up his first career win on Friday in the 10K classic event, covering the course in 29:45. The following day, he placed eighth overall in 3.8K freestyle event. Brams tied a career-best when she finished second in Friday’s 5K classic, earning a time of 16:39. On Saturday, she came in seventh overall in the 3.8K freestyle.
  • Middlebury Completes Williams Carnival in Third Place

    The Middlebury ski team finished third overall at the Williams Carnival on Saturday afternoon. Dartmouth won the event with 990 points, followed by Vermont (910) and the Panthers (756). Third-place finishes by the men’s and women’s nordic teams highlighted day two of action. Nordic races were held at the Berkshire East Ski Resort, while the alpine races took place at Jiminy Peak. Middlebury returns to action next Friday when it hosts day one of its own Carnival.

    A win by Sam Wood and the men’s nordic team in the 10K, as well as second-place efforts by the men’s alpine and women’s nordic squads highlighted day one of the Williams Carnival.
  • Ski Teams Place Third at Dartmouth Carnival
    February 10, 2018
    The Middlebury ski teams placed third overall at the Dartmouth Carnival on Saturday afternoon. Dartmouth won the event with 1,019 points, followed by Vermont (920) and the Panthers (699).  Alpine events took place at the Dartmouth Skiway, while nordic races were held at Oak Hill.  The Panthers return to action next weekend at the Williams Carnival.
  • Ski Teams Open Action at Dartmouth Carnival

    The Panthers ski teams returned to action Friday at the annual Dartmouth Carnival. The men's alpine team placed second in the giant slalom, while the women's nordic squad performed well in the 10K classic. Dartmouth leads after one day with 513 points, followed by Vermont (438) and Middlebury (366).
  • Hamilton, Carey & Whitcomb To Represent Middlebury At Winter Olympics
    February 05, 2018
    Simeon “Simi” Hamilton ’09 will represent Middlebury College at the 2018 Winter Olympic Games taking place from February 9-25 in Pyeongchang, South Korea. This will be the third Olympic games for the former Panther Nordic racer after representing the U.S. in the 2010 Vancouver games and 2014 in Sochi, Russia. Also representing the College will be Forest Carey ’00, head technical of the U.S. men’s alpine team, and Matt Whitcomb ’01, head coach of the U.S. women’s Nordic team.
  • Men's Nordic Squad Wins 10K Classic at UVM Carnival

    The Middlebury ski team wrapped up action at the University of Vermont Carnival on Saturday, placing fourth overall with 645 points. Dartmouth won the event (969), followed by UVM (932) and UNH (701). The men’s nordic team placed three racers in the top nine to capture the men’s 10K classical race. Nordic races were held at the Trapp Family Lodge, while the alpine events took place at the Stowe Mountain Resort. Both teams return to action next Friday and Saturday at the Dartmouth Carnival.
  • Nordic Teams Produce Strong Finishes on Day One at UVM Carnival

    The Middlebury ski teams were together at the same carnival for the first time this season on Friday, taking part in events hosted by the University of Vermont. Nordic races are being held at the Trapp Family Lodge, while the alpine events are being contested at the Stowe Mountain Resort. The nordic men finished second overall on day one, while the women were third. Action continues on Saturday with the slalom event, as well as the women’s 5K and men’s 10K classic races.
  • Wolter Named EISA Nordic Skier of the Week

    Middlebury College nordic skier Peter Wolter (Hailey, Idaho) has been named the EISA Men’s Nordic Skier of the Week. At last weekend’s St. Michael’s Carnival, the Panther rookie finished second overall in 15K freestyle race, while placing seventh in the 10K classical event. He and his teammates return to action on February 2-3 at the University of Vermont Carnival.
  • Men Win As Nordic Squad Completes Action at St. Michael's Carnival

    The Middlebury nordic ski team finished third overall at the St. Michael's Carnival, as the men's team took home the title in Sunday's 10K freestyle race. Vermont came away with the team title with 956 points, followed closely by Dartmouth (946), with Middlebury taking home third-place honors (706).
  • Brams Second-Place Finish Paces Nordic Squad at St. Michael's

    The Middlebury nordic teams returned to action at the St. Michael's Carnival on Saturday afternoon at the Sleepy Hollow Ski Center. The Panthers were solid once again, as both the men and women placed third overall on day one. Middlebury returns to competition on Sunday with day two of the carnival.
  • Nordic Squad Opens With Impressive Results at Colby Carnival

    The Middlebury nordic ski team opened its schedule at the Colby Carnival with races at the Quarry Road Trail. Saturday's events were canceled due to weather, with the women's 5K and men's 10K classical events taking place on Sunday. The Panthers finished the carnival third overall with 730 points, trailing Dartmouth (966) and Vermont (946). The team is back in action next weekend at the St. Michael's Carnival.
  • 2018 Nordic Skiing Preview

    The Middlebury nordic ski teams both return relatively experienced groups back to the race course for the 2018 season. Last year’s team results saw the Panthers come on strong with third-place finishes in the final three carnivals of the season prior to NCAA competition.
