Ski Team Earns Season-Best Finish at Dartmouth

The Middlebury ski team turned in its best performance of the winter, finishing third overall at the Dartmouth Carnival. UVM won the event with 900 points, followed by Dartmouth (864), Middlebury (675) and UNH (656). The Panthers return to action next weekend when they host the Middlebury Carnival on Friday and Saturday.

Adam Luban led the way for the Middlebury men's nordic squad, placing ninth overall in the 10K classic event at the Craftsbury Nordic Center. Sam Wood and Evan Weinman finished back-to-back in the race, with Wood claiming 20th place (28:48) and Weinman finishing 21st (28:56).

The women's team was paced by Cate Brams, who covered the 5K course in a time of 16:05, good for 12th place. Like the men, the next two Panther scorers finished one behind the other. Orli Schwartz crossed the line in 29th place overall with a time of 16:43, followed by Katie Feldman's 30th-place effort (16:45).

On the alpine slopes at the Dartmouth Skiway, Rob Cone followed up his win in the GS on Friday with a second-place finish in Saturday's slalom event. He led after the first run, but was edged out on run number two, finishing with a combined time of 1:37.91. Also earning top-10 finishes were Colin Hayes and Christopher McKenna. Hayes captured sixth place in 1:39.92, while McKenna was ninth with a time of 1:40.12. The Middlebury men finished second overall in the event.

Jackie Atkins was the top Panther on the women's side, coming in 15th place overall with a two-run time of 1:44.68. Caroline Bartlett was next for the Panthers in 19th place (1:45.22), followed by Katie Utter in a tie for 20th place (1:45.24).
