The Middlebury cross country teams swept the Aldrich Invitational on Saturday, as both teams cruised to victories in their first home event of the season. The 21st-ranked men grabbed the top-six spots and seven runners in the top eight, while the eighth-ranked women owned places one through eight and 11 of the top 13 finishers. The Panthers return to action next Saturday at Williams' Purple Valley Classic.
Harrison Knowlton took home the title in the men's race, covering the 8K course with a time of 26:59.9, just under five seconds in front of teammate Matt D'Aquila in second place (27:04.2). Henry Fleming crossed the line in third with a time of 27:13.5, a little under eight seconds ahead of Andrew Michelson (27:21.5) who placed fourth. Rounding out the scorers in fifth was Miles Meijer (27:21.8).
On the women's side, Abigail Nadler won the 5K race, finishing with a time of 19:15.6, a little over eight seconds ahead of teammate Katherine MacCary (19:23.9). Placing third in the race was Meg Wilson (19:46.9), followed by Talia Ruxin, who raced across the tape in fourth place (19:52.1). Rory Kelly completed the Panther scorers in fifth place, crossing the line in 19:55.0.
