  • Seven Panthers Inducted to Phi Beta Kappa

    Seven Middlebury athletes were recently inducted into the College's Phi Beta Kappa chapter. Tom Dils (men's soccer) and Hannah Blackburn (volleyball) join honorees Noel Antonisse (men's swimming & diving), James Burke (football), Melanie English (volleyball), Kate Reinmuth (women's soccer) and Day Robins (women's soccer) who were inducted during the Fall Family Weekend in October.
  • McGean Ends NCAA Meet With School Record, All-American Effort

    Middlebury's Michael McGean concluded his 2017 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships with a school-record and All-American performance on Saturday during the 1,650-yard freestyle. The four-day event took place at the Conroe ISD Natatorium in Shenandoah, Texas and was hosted by the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference and the City of Shenandoah. McGean represented the Panthers on the men's side, scoring six points on Saturday to tie for 43rd place in the team standings.
  • McGean Swims on Day Two of NCAA Championships

    Michael McGean swam in the 200-yard freestyle preliminaries during the second day of the 2017 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships on Thursday. The four-day event is taking place at the Conroe ISD Natatorium in Shenandoah, Texas and is being hosted by the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference and the City of Shenandoah.
  • McGean Competes on Opening Day of NCAA Championships

    Michael McGean competed in the 500-yard freestyle during the opening day of the 2017 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships on Wednesday. The four-day event is taking place at the Conroe ISD Natatorium in Shenandoah, Texas and is being hosted by the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference and the City of Shenandoah.
  • NESCAC Winter All-Academic Team Members Honored

    The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) has announced its 2016-17 Winter All-Academic Selections. To be honored, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore academic standing and be a varsity letter winner with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.40. A transfer student must have completed one year of study at the institution. The following are Middlebury's 128 representatives, the highest among the 11 conference institutions.
  • NESCAC Winter All-Sportsmanship Teams Announced
    March 08, 2017
    The New England Small College Athletic Conference announced its Winter All-Sportsmanship Team for each winter sport sponsored by the conference. The All-Sportsmanship Team is composed of one student-athlete from each institution for each sport and is selected by the players and coaches from their respective team for their positive contributions to sportsmanship. The student-athlete selected must be in good academic standing and a member of the team at the conclusion of the season in order to be eligible for selection.
  • Panthers Headed to Texas for NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships

    Nine members of the Middlebury College men’s and women's swimming and diving teams will compete in the 2017 NCAA Championships from March 15-18. The event is taking place at the CISD Natatorium in Shenandoah, Texas, with the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference and the City of Shenandoah serving as the hosts.
  • McGean, Chirico Earn All-NESCAC Honors

    Two members of the Middlebury College men’s swimming & diving team have been awarded All-NESCAC laurels. Senior Michael McGean (Lincoln, Mass.) along with rookie Mike Chirico (Dover, Mass.) picked up all-conference accolades, given to the top-three finishers in each event during the 2017 NESCAC Men’s Swimming & Diving Championships. The three-day meet was held in the Wesleyan Natatorium.
  • McGean Breaks 1,650 Free Record, Men Eighth at NESCAC Championships

    Michael McGean tallied his second school record in as many nights, picking up the second during Sunday's 1,650 freestyle, as Middlebury finished eighth during the 2017 NESCAC Men's Swimming & Diving Championships. The three-day event was held inside the Wesleyan Natatorium, as the Panthers accumulated 576.5 points, while Williams grabbed the team title with 1,671.
  • McGean Lowers Own School Mark on Day Two of NESCAC Meet

    Fueled by a school-record performance from Michael McGean on Saturday evening, Middlebury continued action on the second day of the 2017 NESCAC Men's Swimming & Diving Championship inside the Wesleyan Natatorium. Williams continue to lead the way (1,145 points), while Amherst (1,049) and Tufts (1,008) round out the top three. The Panthers move up to eighth place with 411.5 points.
  • Panthers Compete on Day One of NESCAC Championship

    Middlebury took part in the first day of the 2017 NESCAC Men's Swimming & Diving Championships held inside the Wesleyan Natatorium. Williams leads the team standings with 643 points, while Amherst is second with 547 points and Tufts (542) sits right behind in third. The Panthers sit in 10th place with 165 points.
  • Men's Swimming & Diving Sets Its Sights on NESCAC Championship

    Middlebury has its sights set on capturing a NESCAC crown this weekend when it takes part in the 2017 NESCAC Men's Swimming and Diving Championship at the Wesleyan Natatorium. Williams will be in pursuit of its 15th straight and 16th overall conference crown when the 2017 NESCAC Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships take place this weekend at the Wesleyan Natatorium on the campus of Wesleyan University. The three-day meet starts on Friday with preliminary heats in the morning and championship events in the evening.
  • Panther Swimming & Diving Hosts Annual Middlebury Invitational

    The Middlebury swimming and diving teams hosted the two-day Middlebury Invitational on Friday and Saturday inside the natatorium. The event featured no team scores as Williams, Springfield, Tufts and the University of Vermont took part in the meet, along with the Panthers.
  • Panther Swimming & Diving Ends Dual Meet Schedule Against Williams
    January 21, 2017
    The Panther swimming and diving teams completed the dual meet portion of their schedules Saturday afternoon with a pair of tough tests against Williams. The fourth-ranked Eph women defeated host Middlebury by a 183-111 score, while the seventh-ranked Williams’ men defeated the Panthers, 213-80. Middlebury returns to action Friday and Saturday when it hosts the annual Middlebury Invitational. Action will begin on Friday at 5:30 p.m. while Saturday’s events are scheduled to start at 10:00 a.m.
  • Panther Women Cruise Past Union, Men Edged in Dual Meet

    The Middlebury swimming and diving teams continued their push toward the championship season with a road dual meet on Saturday afternoon at Union. The Panther women eased past the host Dutchwomen by a 150-91 score, while the men were edged by the Dutchmen, 128-113. Middlebury returns to action next Saturday when it hosts Williams at 1:00 p.m.
  • Panthers Conclude Home Weekend With Meet Against Bates

    The Panther swimming and diving teams wrapped up their first weekend of the second semester with a home meet against Bates. The women defeated the visiting Bobcats by a 160-140 score, while the men were defeated 161.5-126.5. Middlebury returns to action Saturday when it travels to Union for a meet starting at 2:00 p.m.
  • Swimming & Diving Teams Begin Second Semesters With Wins Over Colby
    January 07, 2017
    The Panther swimming and diving teams opened their second semesters with convincing home dual meet wins Saturday afternoon against Colby. The women were victorious by a 232.5-66.5 score, while the men cruised to a 179-119 victory. Middlebury returns to action Sunday with a home matchup against Bates scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m.
  • Panther Swimming & Diving Eases Past Springfield
    December 10, 2016
    The Panther swimming and diving teams capped off the first semester by traveling to a dual meet on Saturday at Springfield. The men cruised by a 150-81 score for their first win of the season, while the women edged the Pride, 132-111. The Panthers take a break for the holidays before returning to action on Saturday, January 7, when they host Colby for a dual meet starting at 1:00 p.m.
  • Panthers Host NESCAC Foe Amherst in Home Meet
    December 03, 2016
    The Panther swimming and diving teams returned to action against Amherst on Saturday in the Middlebury Natatorium. The women fell by a 179.5-118.5 count to #10 Amherst, while the men were defeated by the 13th-ranked Purple & White 179.5-113.5. Middlebury will complete first-semester competition next Saturday when it travels to Springfield for a dual meet beginning at 1:00 p.m.
  • Middlebury Ends Opening Weekend With Meet at Tufts
    November 20, 2016
    The Middlebury swimming and diving teams ended their respective opening weekends with a dual meet Sunday in Tufts' Hamilton Pool. The Middlebury women fell to the Jumbos by a narrow 156-144 count, while the men were defeated 185-110. The Panthers return to the pool on Saturday, December 3 when they open the home portion of the schedule with a meet against Amherst.
  • Panther Swim & Dive Teams Open Season at Conn. College

    The Panther swimming and diving teams opened up their respective 2016-17 seasons on the road with a meet at Connecticut College. The Middlebury women fell to the Camels by a 173-121 tally, while the men were defeated, 191-97.

  • Paione Named Assistant Swim Coach

    Middlebury College has announced the hiring of Melissa Paione as the assistant swimming coach. Paione, a 2016 graduate of Bates College, earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology, concentrating in public health and minoring in gender studies.
