  • NESCAC Winter All-Academic Team Members Honored
    March 09, 2017
    The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) has announced its 2016-17 Winter All-Academic Selections. To be honored, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore academic standing and be a varsity letter winner with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.40. A transfer student must have completed one year of study at the institution. The following are Middlebury's 128 representatives, the highest among the 11 conference institutions.
  • NESCAC Winter All-Sportsmanship Teams Announced

    The New England Small College Athletic Conference announced its Winter All-Sportsmanship Team for each winter sport sponsored by the conference. The All-Sportsmanship Team is composed of one student-athlete from each institution for each sport and is selected by the players and coaches from their respective team for their positive contributions to sportsmanship. The student-athlete selected must be in good academic standing and a member of the team at the conclusion of the season in order to be eligible for selection.
  • Quartet of Panther Men Play in CSA Individual Championships

    Middlebury men's squash players Wyatt French, William Cembalest, Jacob Ellen and Jack Kagan each participated in the College Squash Association (CSA) Individual Championships held inside Dartmouth’s Berry Squash Courts. French (1-1) and Kagan (1-2) both posted wins in their respective brackets, while Cembalest and Ellen each lost twice during the three-day event.
  • Four Men’s Squash Players to Participate in CSA Individual Championships

    Four members of the Middlebury College men’s squash team will compete in the 2017 CSA Individual Championships from March 3-5. Senior Wyatt French (Farmington, Conn.) along with rookies William Cembalest (Brooklyn, N.Y.), Jacob Ellen (New York, N.Y.) and Jack Kagan (Chapel Hill, N.C.) will each compete in the Molloy Cup draws. The event is taking place at the Berry Squash Courts and will be hosted by Dartmouth.
  • Three Panther Men Named to All-NESCAC Squash Teams, Lewis Tabbed Coach of the Year

    Three players from the Middlebury men’s squash team have been named to the 2017 NESCAC All-Conference teams. Senior Wyatt French (Farmington, Conn.) picked up first-team laurels, while senior Andrew Cadienhead (Bronx, N.Y.) and rookie Jacob Ellen (Farmington, Conn.) were selected to the second team. Head coach Mark Lewis was honored as the NESCAC Coach of the Year for the first time in his career. Middlebury concluded the season with a team record of 13-8, finishing in third place during the NESCAC Championship. The Panthers also claimed their sixth Summers Cup title in the last nine years for a final ranking of 17th nationally.
  • Men’s Squash Captures Sixth Summers Cup

    The 17th-ranked Middlebury men's squash team captured the Summers Cup for the sixth time in the last nine years after a 6-3 victory on Sunday morning over #19 Virginia at the CSA Team Championships. The matches were played in Harvard’s Murr Squash Center Courts. The Panthers finish the season ranked 17th-nationally with an overall record of 13-8, winners of four-consecutive matches to conclude the season.
  • Panthers Advance to Summers Cup Final With Victory Over Brown

    The 17th-ranked Middlebury men's squash team posted a 6-3 victory over #20 Brown on Saturday morning in the Summers Cup semifinals at the CSA Men's Squash National Team Championship. The event is being hosted by Harvard at the Murr Center Squash Courts. The Panthers (12-8) return to action Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m. in the championship match against #19 Virginia, a 5-4 victor over Williams. Middlebury squared off with the Cavaliers earlier this season on January 28 in a match played at Brown, dropping a narrow 5-4 decision.
  • Panthers Cruise Past Amherst at CSA Team Championships

    The 17th-ranked Middlebury men's squash team eased past #24 Amherst by a 9-0 score on Friday morning in the Summers Cup quarterfinal round at the CSA National Team Championships. The event is being hosted by Harvard at the Murr Center Squash Courts. The Panthers return to action Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. in a semifinal match against #20 Brown. Middlebury (11-8) squared off with the Bears on January 29, earning a 7-2 victory in Rhode Island.
  • Men’s Squash Prepares for CSA National Team Championships
    February 14, 2017
    The Middlebury men's squash team has earned the #1 seed in the Summers Cup (C Division) for the upcoming National Team Championships to be played at Harvard in the Murr Center Squash Courts. The Panthers, ranked 17th overall, will compete in the Hoehn Cup for the seventh time in the program's 10-year history, winning the cup five times over the last nine years. Middlebury takes on 24th-ranked Amherst in a quarterfinal match on Friday, February 17 at 10:00 a.m. and will continue to play on both Saturday and Sunday to determine their overall finish.
  • Panthers Victorious in NESCAC Third-Place Match Over Williams

    The Middlebury men's squash team, seeded fourth and ranked 18th, finished in third place overall with a narrow 5-4 victory over third-seeded and 17th-ranked Williams in the 2017 NESCAC Tournament hosted by Amherst. With the win, the Panthers improve to 10-8 and return to action at the CSA Team Championships at Harvard from February 17-19.
  • Middlebury Moves to NESCAC Semis Before Falling to Trinity

    The 18th-ranked Panther men's squash team split a pair of matches during the NESCAC Tournament on Saturday hosted by Amherst. After receiving a bye through the first round, fourth-seeded Middlebury recorded a 9-0 win in the quarterfinals over #5 seed and 23rd-ranked Colby before falling to top-seeded and second-ranked Trinity, 9-0. The Panthers (9-8) return to play on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. in the third-place match against #3 seed and 17th-ranked Williams.
  • Panther Men's Squash Eyes NESCAC Crown

    Fourth-seeded Middlebury will be in pursuit of a conference title this weekend when the three-day 2017 NESCAC Men's Squash Championship begins on Friday. Amherst's Davenport Squash Courts will serve as the host for all of this year's championship bracket matches, while Smith’s Squash Courts will host select consolation matches on Saturday. The NESCAC Championship match will be played on Sunday, February 5 at 3:00 p.m.
  • Middlebury Ends Regular Season With Win at Brown

    The 18th-ranked Middlebury men’s squash team earned a 7-2 victory Sunday afternoon at #19 Brown in the regular-season finale played in the Brodsky Squash Pavilion. Middlebury (8-7) returns to the court on Friday when it competes in the NESCAC Tournament hosted by Amherst.

    The 18th-ranked Middlebury men's squash team started its final weekend of the regular season with a narrow 5-4 setback Saturday to Virginia in a match played at Brown’s Brodsky Squash Pavilion. The Panthers (7-7) conclude the regular season Sunday with a 2:00 p.m. contest against the 19th-ranked Bears.

    The 16th-ranked Middlebury men's squash team ended its weekend with a 9-0 setback on the road Sunday afternoon to #9 Dartmouth at the Berry Squash Courts. The Panthers (7-6) return to the court on Saturday when they play Virginia at 11:30 a.m. in a match contested at Brown.

    The 16th-ranked Middlebury men's squash team concluded its home portion of the schedule on Friday evening with a narrow 5-4 setback to #19 Williams. The Panthers (7-4) return to the court on Saturday with a 3:00 p.m. contest at #8 St. Lawrence.

    The 16th-ranked Middlebury men's squash team concluded a busy week by splitting a pair of matches played on Saturday at Franklin & Marshall’s Mayser Center. The Panthers opened action with a narrow 5-4 setback to the 13th-ranked Diplomats, before cruising past #22 Dickinson, 7-2. After eight matches in as many days, the Panthers (7-3) have nearly a week off before returning to the court on Friday when they host #19 Williams at 5:00 p.m.

    The Middlebury men's squash team posted its sixth-straight victory and third in a row by a 9-0 score when it blanked #27 Hobart at home on Thursday evening. The 15th-ranked Panthers (6-2) have a day off before returning to the court Saturday with pair of matches at Franklin & Marshall against #13th-ranked Diplomats at 11:00 a.m., followed by a 2:00 p.m. contest with #22 Dickinson.

Winners of four-consecutive matches, the Panthers (4-2) return to action when they take to the road for the first time this season with a match at #20 Amherst on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.

    The 15th-ranked Middlebury men's squash team eased past #26 Colby on Sunday by an 8-1 score. The win is the third-straight victory for the Panthers. Middlebury plays its fourth match in three days when it returns to the court Monday for a 3:00 p.m. match against #24 Hamilton.

The Panthers (0-2) have more than a month off from competition before returning to the court Saturday, January 7 in a pair of home contests with Bowdoin and Bates starting at 10:00 a.m.

    A talented roster of returners coupled with a strong first-year class gives the Middlebury men’s squash program high expectations headed into the 2016-17 season. Last winter, the men posted a record of 13-6 against a demanding schedule and finished the year ranked 15th nationally.
