Middlebury College men's soccer players Peter Davis (Oreland, Pa.) and Ben Potter (Evanston, Ill.) have been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-American Teams. Davis garnered second-team laurels, while Potter was a third-team selection. Davis and Potter are just the 12th and 13th student-athletes in Middlebury's history to achieve the accolade and the eighth and ninth since 2014. The duo helped lead the Panthers to a 10-4-3 mark and played in the NCAA Tournament.
Davis is a two-time all-district honoree and owns a 3.96 grade point average as an economics major. He was part of a defensive unit that ranked third in the NESCAC with a 0.56 goals against average and nine shutouts. The senior back started all 69 matches in which he appeared in while wearing the Middlebury uniform. Davis is also a three-time All-NESCAC Academic selection.
Potter was also an all-district recipient and boasts a 3.95 GPA as an economics major. He led the team in goals (6) and was tied atop the team ranks with 14 points. His goal total tied him for fifth in the league, while his points tied for seventh among his NESCAC peers. Potter scored goals in three of the last five matches, all of them game-winners. He enters his senior season having played in 50 matches with 32 starts, tallying 21 points on eight goals and five assists. Potter has twice been named to the All-NESCAC Academic team.
