Middlebury College men's soccer players Peter Davis (Oreland, Pa.) and Ben Potter (Evanston, Ill.) have been named College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) District I First-Team Academic All-District selections by the organization. The pair will help lead Middlebury into the opening round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday when it faces St. Joseph's of Maine at Amherst with a 1:30 p.m. start.
Davis earned his second-straight all-district nod and owns a 3.96 grade point average as an economics major. He is part of a defensive unit that ranks second in the NESCAC with a 0.47 goals against average and 10 shutouts. The senior back has started all 68 games he has appeared in at Middlebury.
Junior Ben Potter boasts a 3.95 GPA and is an economics major. He leads the team in goals (6) and points (14) to go along with a pair of assists. His goal total ties him for third in the league, while his points are tied for fourth among his NESCAC peers. Potter has scored goals in three of the last four games, all of them game-winners.
The pair will now be placed on a national ballot with the Academic All-American team slated to be released on December 6.
