Men's Golf Opens Season in Lake Placid

The Middlebury men's golf team opened up its season by hosting the Middlebury Fall Classic at the Lake Placid Club in New York. Saturday's 18-hole event saw Williams shoot a 295 to take home the title. The Panthers were next with a 304, followed by Skidmore (313) and Castleton (324). Match play continues in Lake Placid on Saturday afternoon and Sunday.

Bennett Doherty paced Middlebury with a third-place finish, shooting a 72 on the day. Next for the Panthers was Jeffrey Giguere, who carded a 74 to earn a tie for fourth place. Tying for ninth was Graham Kenter with a 78, followed by David McDaniel, whose 80 left him in a tie for 14th overall. Rounding out the team were David Packer and Joe Ko, who shot 83 and 86, respectively.
