Norwich held Middlebury to just .207 shooting from the floor in the first half, and .306 in the game as the Cadets picked up a 76-59 road win at Middlebury.
The first half was not pretty, with the teams combining for 25 turnovers. The Cadets broke up an 8-8 tie with a 12-0 run over a six-minute span to take a 20-10 lead with 3:50 remaining in the half.
Leading by a dozen at the break, Norwich fought off an early second half run by Middlebury, which cut the lead to 31-24 just two minutes into the half. The next 12 minutes were even, with the Panthers cutting the lead to six with 7:57 left to play. Leading by eight with 6:23 remaining, Norwich went on an 8-0 run to take a 16-point lead on its way to the victory.
Mike Walsh led Middlebury with 13 points and 15 rebounds, shooting five of nine from the floor. Ben Rudin added a dozen, while Andrew Harris scored eight.
Rene Cheatham paced Norwich with 23 points, Scott DuPont added 12 points and eight rebounds, while Geoff Hensley scored 14 with seven boards and five assists.
