Middlebury dropped to 11-5 and 1-2 in NESCAC play as they suffered a 69-47 loss at Bates. The Bobcats controlled the boards, holding a 43-28 advantage on the night.
Leading 4-3 early, Bates went on an 11-2 run to take a 16-6 lead with 14:02 left in the first half. The Bobcats closed the first half on a 5-0 run to take a 39-24 lead into the intermission.
The Panthers couldn't make a run in the second half, shooting just 25 percent from the floor. Middlebury came within 14 at the 15:43 mark, trailing by as many as 22 before the contest came to a close.
Mike Walsh led the Panthers with 14 points on six of eight shooting, while Evan Thompson and Andrew Harris scored 10 points apiece.
Zak Ray led Bates with 16, Pat Halloran scored 15, while Bryan Wholey netted 13.
