  • Middlebury College Athletics Mourns Loss of Dave Sears

    Middlebury College Athletics mourns the loss of long-time friend and public address announcer Dave Sears. Known for his one-of-a-kind voice and witty personality, Dave was a friendly and outgoing presence at countless men’s hockey, field hockey and women’s lacrosse games. Our deepest condolences and thoughts go out to his family and friends during this time.
  • Middlebury Announces Newest Inductees For Athletics Hall of Fame

    Middlebury College today announced its 2015 class of inductees into the Middlebury Athletics Hall of Fame class. Just the second class to be inaugurated, this year’s group includes graduates from five different decades, from as early as 1932 and as recent as 1998. The class includes five men and five women who, combined, played a dozen different sports for the College. One of the inductees is also being honored for his service as a coach and administrator.
  • Middlebury Finishes Seventh in Learfield Sports Directors' Cup Standings

    Middlebury has finished seventh among 322 college and universities that registered points in the 2014-15 Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup standings. The Panthers earned their 12th-straight top-10 finish, winning the cup in 2011-12. Williams won its third-straight and 18th overall title with 1,053 points, followed by Johns Hopkins (1,016.75), M.I.T. (961), Washington-St. Louis (944) and Amherst (918.50). Middlebury finished with 821.50 points, third among NESCAC schools behind Williams and Amherst, as a total of four NESCAC schools finished in the top-10 of this year’s standings.
  • Spring NESCAC Sportsmanship Team Announced

    The New England Small College Athletic Conference announced its Spring All-Sportsmanship Team for each spring sport sponsored by the conference. The All-Sportsmanship Team is composed of one student-athlete from each institution for each sport and is selected by the players and coaches from their respective team for their positive contributions to sportsmanship. The student-athlete selected must be in good academic standing and a member of the team at the conclusion of the season in order to be eligible for selection.

    The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) has announced its 2014-15 Spring All-Academic Selections. To be honored, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore academic standing and be a varsity letter winner with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.35. A transfer student must have completed one year of study at the institution. The following are Middlebury’s 89 representatives.

    The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) has announced its 2014-15 Winter All-Academic Selections. To be honored, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore academic standing and be a varsity letter winner with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.35. A transfer student must have completed one year of study at the institution. The following are Middlebury’s 103 representatives, the second-highest total in the league.

  • Middlebury Celebrates New Field House, Hall of Fame

    Virtue Field House glowed like a beacon in the night as more than 600 visitors streamed into the building for its much-awaited dedication ceremony on January 24. Inside, the facility was abuzz with excitement as the College community got its first glimpse of the 110,000- square- foot building that will host varsity, club, intramural, and recreational sports.
  • Virtue Field House Dedication Set for January 24

    Middlebury will celebrate the past, present and future of athletics at the College with this weekend’s dedication of a new field house and induction of the inaugural members of the Athletics Hall of Fame. Virtue Field House will open to the public on Saturday, January 24. The dedication ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. and will feature remarks by President Ronald D. Liebowitz, Director of Athletics Erin Quinn ’86 and Board of Trustees member J. Edward Virtue ’82.

The women's basketball team plays the final game of the "year" on December 31st when it visits MCLA. The rest of our teams will resume play in 2015.     The Middlebury Athletics Hall of Fame was founded in 2014. Its first class of 2014 was inducted in January of 2015 in conjunction with the opening of the school's new field house. The Hall of Fame was established to commemorate the achievements of those student-athletes, coaches, administrators and staff who have distinguished themselves through excellence in athletic performance and service.

  • Progress Continues on Field House Project

    Progress continues on the College's new field house. The entrance and lobby areas are taking shape while the FieldTurf and indoor track surfaces are soon to be installed. The field house will feature a six-lane, 200-meter indoor track with a 60-meter straightaway for sprints, plus dedicated areas outside the oval for all jumping and throwing events. It replaces the former structure that housed a 180-meter, four-lane track, which surrounded an area for field events.
  • Squash Center Earns Highest Honor for Sustainability

    The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) this month awarded its highest level of certification, LEED platinum, to Middlebury for its 18,000-square-foot Squash Center that opened 11 months ago.

    In addition to the school’s recently launched new PrestoSports website, Middlebury College is proud to announce two additional enhancements for the 2014-15 school year. The Panthers have upgraded their contract with the Northeast Sports Network (NSN) to include high definition (HD) coverage of all home event webcast this season.
  • Middlebury College Athletics Launches New PrestoSports Website
    August 25, 2014
    Middlebury College, in partnership with PrestoSports, has launched a new athletics’ website (athletics.middlebury.edu). The platform will serve as the home for all news, information, scores and schedules for the college’s 31 varsity athletic teams. More than 650 Middlebury College students participate in athletics annually, while nearly 200 take part in more than one sport.
