  • Middlebury Finishes Third In Directors' Cup Standings

    Middlebury College has finished third in the 2013 Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup race. The Panthers earned their 10th consecutive top-five finish, after winning its first cup a year ago. Williams reclaimed the crown with 1,273 points, followed by Emory (986), Middlebury (941), Wisconsin-Whitewater (895) and Washington Univ. (859).
  • New Field House, Squash Center Under Construction

    Middlebury College has two new athletics facilities under construction: a nine-court Squash Center set for completion in October 2013, and a 110,000-square-foot Field House that will host athletic, intramural, recreational and special events beginning in October 2014.
  • Spring NESCAC Academic Team Released

    The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) has announced its 2013 Spring All-Academic Selections. To be honored, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore academic standing and be a varsity letter winner with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.35. A transfer student must have completed one year of study at the institution. 
  • Spring Sportsmanship Team Announced

    The New England Small College Athletic Conference announced its Spring All-Sportsmanship Team for each fall sport sponsored by the conference. The All-Sportsmanship Team is composed of one student-athlete from each institution for each sport and is selected by the players and coaches from their respective team for their positive contributions to sportsmanship.

  • Greer Earns NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship

    Lauren Greer (N. Hampton, N.H.) has been awarded an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. The two-sport standout will receive $7,500 from the NCAA for use towards a graduate program. To be eligible for the scholarship, the candidate must have performed with distinction as a member a varsity team at his or her institution.

  • Weather Forces Several Postponements - UPDATED AGAIN!

    Due to the impending storm expected to blanket the northeast, several schedule changes have occurred for Middlebury College Athletic events. The men’s and women’s NESCAC basketball games scheduled for Friday, February 8th vs. Trinity have been moved to Sunday, February 10th. The men will play at 5:00 and the women will follow at 7:00. Saturday’s games vs. Amherst have now also been postponed. The men’s game will be made up on Tuesday, February 12th at 7:00 p.m., while the women will play on Wednesday, February 13th at 7:00 p.m. 
  • Happy Holidays

    It's been another solid start to the winter season for Middlebury College Athletic teams. The Panthers boast the second-ranked men's basketball team in the country with a record of 8-0 and the fourth-ranked women's hockey team at 5-1-1. Men's hockey is 4-2-2 and ranked 12th nationally, while the squash team are a combined 9-1, both ranked in the top 20.

  • Fall Sportsmanship Team Announced

    The New England Small College Athletic Conference announced its Fall All-Sportsmanship Team for each fall sport sponsored by the conference. The All-Sportsmanship Team is composed of one student-athlete from each institution for each sport and is selected by the players and coaches from their respective team for their positive contributions to sportsmanship. The student-athlete selected must be in good academic standing and a member of the team at the conclusion of the season in order to be eligible for selection.
  • Middlebury Officially Awarded Directors' Cup

    Middlebury College President Ron Liebowitz and Director of Athletics Erin Quinn have been officially presented the Directors’ Cup. Asst. Executive Director Of NACDA, Julie Work presented the trophy during halftime of the October 6th football game vs. Amherst, a contest the Panthers won 24-3. 
  • Picking Up Butch

    For half a century, Middlebury College student athletes have helped local resident Butch Varno - who suffers from cerebral palsy - enjoy sporting events and other activities in the community. The tradition began back in 1960, when Roger Ralph, a 1963 Middlebury College graduate, saw Varno's grandmother struggling to push Butch's wheelchair through snow and mud on the way home from a football game and offered to pick them up.
  • Athletes Volunteer Locally

    Each year community volunteers make a big impact at local non-profits during the Addison County United Way Days of Caring. On Saturday, September 22nd, over 60 athletes from four Middlebury College athletic teams took time from their busy schedules to volunteer during the 18th annual Days of Caring around Addison County painting, cleaning, and providing maintenance support at local non-profits.

    Middlebury College has announced the hiring of Cathy Bersuder as an assistant athletic trainer for the Department of Sports Medicine. The Saline, Michigan native joined the staff in August of ’12.
  • Middlebury To Offer Free Webcasting Via Partnership With NSN

    Middlebury College is proud to announce a partnership with the Northeast Sports Network (NSN) for live video coverage of Panther sporting events. NSN will provide free live streaming of nearly 100 home Middlebury athletic contests in 2012-13.
