  • Butch Strikes Again, Feature Wins Murrow Award

    The ESPN "SportsCenter" piece that featured Middlebury friend, Butch Varno, has won two Edward R. Murrow Awards after winning an Emmy Award earlier this year. The feature originally aired on ESPN on December 7th as well as Christmas Eve and Christmas morning of 2003.
  • Middlebury Finishes Third In Cup Standings

    Middlebury College finished the '03-'04 year as the third-place team among all Division III schools in the United States Sports Academy Directors' Cup (formerly Sears Cup). The standings represent excellence in NCAA play among the 430 Division III schools eligible for the award. Selected sports are chosen to receive points in the standings, based upon the number of teams play take part in that particular sports' NCAA Championship.

  • Hockey Teams To Appear On CBS Show
    April 14, 2004
    4/14/04 - Fifteen championships will be featured Sunday on the national Emmy nominated CBS Sports NCAA seasonal show. The 60-minute show will be hosted by veteran CBS announcer Bonnie Bernstein and will air Sunday, April 18 at 1 p.m. Eastern Time / 10 a.m. Pacific Time. Middlebury College's men's and women's hockey championships will be part of the show.

  • Celebration Planned For Hockey Teams

    3/31/04 - A celebration will be held on Sunday, April 4th from 4:30-5:30 p.m. in the Kenyon Arena for the Middlebury College NCAA Championship hockey teams. Team pictures will be provided with players available to sign autographs and meet with fans.

  • Middlebury Athletics Wins Award

    1/15/04 - The Middlebury College Athletic Department has been given an honorable mention award by the National Association of Division III Athletic Administrators (NADIIIAA). The award was presented in recognition of the outstanding community service projects performed by the institution's student-athletes during the 2003-04 academic year.

    ESPN will re-air the seven-minute feature on Butch Varno as a part of its Christmas Eve and Christmas morning SportsCenter shows. The segment will air during the 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. show on Christmas Eve, as well as several SportsCenter shows running continuously on Christmas morning.
